I am sensitive about living things.
I have been known to save drowning ants and carefully take all manner of bugs outside that I find in our house, from flies to giant cockroaches (I do kill mosquitos, ticks, and fleas.) I am an almost-vegetarian but have an unfortunate passion for sushi, ahi poke, and grilled fresh fish, a contradiction I struggle with. I feel guilty when I pull weeds, and lately, cutting down invasive trees. Here's some recent experiences like this, illustrated:

Invasive Species in Hawai'i
Like most of the planet's islands, Hawai'i's fragile ecological balance has been completely disrupted by the influx of alien plant and animal species brought by human visitors over the years. Here in Hawai'i we seem to be surrounded by things that don't belong here, and I know that none of them should be here, but some of them are just, well, CUTE.
