A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I went on a road trip that took us through Yosemite, over the Tioga Pass, to the Eastern Sierra and then back through Tahoe. I saw so many amazing things, but I think Mono Lake may have made the most impact on me. Some highlights from an afternoon spent at the lake:

I am sensitive about living things.
I have been known to save drowning ants and carefully take all manner of bugs outside that I find in our house, from flies to giant cockroaches (I do kill mosquitos, ticks, and fleas.) I am an almost-vegetarian but have an unfortunate passion for sushi, ahi poke, and grilled fresh fish, a contradiction I struggle with. I feel guilty when I pull weeds, and lately, cutting down invasive trees. Here's some recent experiences like this, illustrated:

hard at work on upcoming Vietnam comic
So I haven't had time to draw about the amazing creatures I've seen lately
the day octopus and the pale-tail unicorn fish!
I apologize! It will be worth it, however, I promise. In the meantime, check out this hilarious comic I did for an anthology about bay area transportation. This is a TRUE STORY (unfortunately, it is someone else's true story, not mine.)

Invasive Species in Hawai'i
Like most of the planet's islands, Hawai'i's fragile ecological balance has been completely disrupted by the influx of alien plant and animal species brought by human visitors over the years. Here in Hawai'i we seem to be surrounded by things that don't belong here, and I know that none of them should be here, but some of them are just, well, CUTE.

Octopuses are COOL!
I've been going through my digital archives while working on revamping my website, and I found this OLD comic I made (in 1998!) that I never did anything with. I have improved in many ways since then, but I still love this, and decided to clean it up a bit and post it here. Enjoy!

Escaping from Alcatraz
So I was backpacking all weekend and will be away this week - I haven't been able to finish this week's comic, but I am determined to post something weekly if at all possible. Thought I'd repost a comic I did a few years ago (for those of you who haven't seen it) a true tale of a crazy thing I did!
